Novoceram, French ceramic manufacturer since 1863, presents its Vitruvius stand and invites visitors to discover its modern Roman domus at Cersaie 2026, the International Exhibition of Ceramic Tile and Bathroom Furnishings in Bologna.
Novoceram, French ceramic manufacturer, presents Vitruvius, a stand that reinterprets the Roman domus as a matrix for timeless design. In an era of acceleration, digital overload and synthetic aesthetics, there is a collective desire to return to the essentials. This is not nostalgia for the past, but rather a desire to return to an ideal of a timeless home.
The Roman domus was not simply a form of architecture: it was a space organised around light, water, materials and human relationships. More than two thousand years ago, the Roman architect Vitruvius laid down its founding principles in his treatise De Architectura: Firmitas, Utilitas, Venustas. Strength, Utility, Beauty. Three timeless requirements, in which the durability of a material can never be separated from its function or its beauty. This triad is at the heart of the Vitruvius stand today.
For Cersaie 2026, Novoceram reinterprets this ancient domestic archetype and creates Vitruvius: a manifesto architecture that reinterprets the idea of a Mediterranean refuge through five contemporary surfaces, inspired by mineral and natural elements. Not a reconstruction of the past, but a reflection on permanence.
Designed by Francesco Catalano, the stand invites visitors to experience a necessary slowing down. For this occasion, Novoceram has created four new porcelain stoneware collections (Tiber Soft, Botanique, Hispalis and Alizés) and one range extension (Otto), reinterpreting original materials: travertine, wood, mineral and coral stones.
