CERSAIE 2010: Ô – All the secrets of water in the new Novoceram adventure at Cersaie 2010

Novoceram, French ceramics manufacturer since 1863, recreates an underwater atmosphere to celebrate water: vital, but threatened, element to which is dedicated the stand «Ô» with which the company presents itself at Cersaie 2010, International Exhibition of Ceramic Tile and Bathroom Furnishings in Bologna.

Novoceram, French ceramics manufacturer since 1863, inaugurates a new cycle of conceptual installations with its stand « Ô« entirely dedicated to water and its protection: an important issue, which is part of a series of events dedicated to the respect for the environment, which has always been one of the pillars of the company identity.

«The idea was not born from a simple aesthetic inspiration» says Francesco Catalano, Novoceram Art Director and designer of the booth, «but it reflects the significant results of the firm in the saving of this vital, but threatened element, that will enable to save almost 30% of water before the end of 2010. »

The ecological message has been conjugated to the fabulous surprises that distinguish the unique style impressed by the scenery of the French griffe: the enlarged detail of an aquatic organism announced the concept of the stand from the outside and invites visitors to go through a huge wall of virtual water in the wake of a 20-meters long shoal of crystal fishes, hung up on the mirror roof of « Ô« . Inside, guests are surrounded by a surprising sub aquatic atmosphere, completely covered by thousands of metal scales and lighted by a colony of luminous jellyfishes.

Novoceram ceramics collections, Moon, Patio, Esprit and Cristal are wrapped by a cascade of glass bubbles, like thousands of oxygen bubbles rising towards the water surface, to remember that water and its universe are not only the metaphor of a nature to protect, but above all the symbol of the constant commitment in the preservation of this valuable resource by Novoceram.

THE DESIGNER

Francesco Catalano

Francesco Catalano is the designer behind all the booths and exhibition spaces of Novoceram. He is Marketing Manager and Art Director for the company and owner of his own interior design firm based in Reggio Emilia (Italy) specialized in bold, unconventional interiors for commercial and residential environments. His work is recognized throughout the design community, winning awards like the prestigious Etoile of the Observeur du Design, in France, and several nominations to the Compasso d’Oro, in Italy. He is also a prolific author of marketing books and articles. In 2010 he founded the blog Gorgonia where he shares his knowledge about marketing and design.
