Our company has just been awarded the EcoVadis Silver Medal. This result places us in the top 15 per cent of companies assessed worldwide. But before going into detail about what this score actually means, we think it’s worth explaining what EcoVadis is and why this assessment really matters to a company like ours.
What exactly is EcoVadis?
EcoVadis is a globally recognised platform for assessing companies’ performance in the area of sustainable development. By 2025, more than 150,000 companies had been audited in its database, a figure that is constantly growing. Its assessments are integrated into the responsible procurement processes of major organisations worldwide.
In practical terms, EcoVadis assesses a company’s ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) management system across 21 criteria grouped into four key themes:
- Environment
- Social and human rights
- Ethics
- Responsible procurement
The assessment is based on concrete evidence and aligns with recognised international frameworks such as the 2030 Agenda, ISO standards and the Global Reporting Initiative.
Medals are awarded based on a company’s percentile ranking amongst all companies assessed in the global database, across all sectors. This is an important point: there are no fixed published thresholds, but rather a relative ranking that is recalculated with each publication of the scorecard (the document summarising a company’s performance as assessed by EcoVadis).
Silver Medal, Top 15% globally
We have been awarded the EcoVadis Silver Medal, which recognises companies ranked in the top 15% of the global database, across all sectors and company sizes.
This result confirms Novoceram’s structured journey towards more sustainable and responsible growth, achieved through resource management, the protection of people and the environment, and the integration of ESG values into its production processes.
For context: EcoVadis awards medals solely on the basis of percentile ranking. Achieving Silver status in the heavy manufacturing sector, whilst competing against companies from all sectors, reflects the genuine maturity of our practices.
A strategic tool, not an end in itself
The EcoVadis assessment is not just a score: it is a management tool that enables us to:
- Measure our ESG performance against objective international benchmarks
- Precisely identify our environmental, social and ethical risks
- Develop an actionable roadmap for continuous improvement
The lessons learnt from this assessment cycle are already guiding our next steps. The Silver medal is an encouraging milestone and a starting point for going further.
